"This album contains the first songs I've written in over four years. I've been having a great time producing other artists, recording two albums of cover songs, and being a husband and father to my three children, and I wasn't overly inspired to write anything. In November 2022, my stepmother died unexpectedly, leaving a huge emotional void for our entire family. She was like a mother to me for over 25 years and the most wonderful partner to my father, as well as an incredibly present grandmother to my children. For me, writing songs has always been a very therapeutic process. One that has helped me cope with suffering and develop understanding and clarity in difficult situations. With these songs, I wanted to accomplish two simple things. First, to honor my stepmother's memory, and second, to make a record that she herself would enjoy." - William Fitzsimmons
