Born in Leipzig-Connewitz in 1989, Josi Miller gained her first experience as a DJ in the East German subculture. While studying at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, she gradually took the stage at larger and larger venues across Germany—her sets were already pushing genre boundaries back then. In 2017, Josi—by then a regular on the Homegirls podcast—moved to Berlin. She accompanied Trettmann for years as a tour DJ, while simultaneously touring extensively as a solo artist. Josi has spun records in Cape Town and Maui, at Radio Rudina in Vienna and FOUNDATION.FM in London, at about:blank, the Institut für Zukunft, and Uebel & Gefährlich, and has played shows ranging from MODULAR to MELT, the Gurtenfestival in Bern to Parookaville, and Feel to Fusion.
During the pandemic, Josi honed her producing skills and, together with KLAN member Stefan Heinrich, founded the electropop duo Import Export; this collaboration produced two highly acclaimed EPs, “Snacks” and “Meds.” This was followed by: performances at Berlin’s Zeiss Planetarium and at Primavera Pro in Barcelona with Import Export, her own stage at the splash! festival, a project tour through South Africa initiated by the Goethe Foundation, countless workshops for up-and-coming artists, and various productions for artist friends such as Jolle, Eli Preiss, and Zugezogen Maskulin. For nearly three years now, Josi has been hosting the ARTE show “Chat with a DJ,” where she regularly welcomes artists such as Marlon Hoffstadt, Anja Schneider, Marcel Dettmann, and Acid Pauli. In late 2023, Josi began working on her debut album “4 Stages Of Sleep” alongside a circle of close musician friends including Fatoni, Aywing, Lambert, Torky Tork, and Beach People.
As part of a grant program, she moved in with post-punk legend Gudrun Gut in the Uckermark for several weeks before her debut album was released in October 2025 on Grönland Records. “4 Stages Of Sleep” garnered significant media attention and drew positive reviews and profiles in numerous daily newspapers and music magazines. This was followed by a collaboration with the vinyl store HHV. Between numerous performances—including the sold-out secret concert in Stuttgart, a set at HÖR Berlin, and support shows for grim104 and the Drunken Masters—Josi was nominated in the “Favorite Album” category for the 2026 Pop Culture Award. In late summer 2026, her six-track EP “How To Break Your Heart” was released.
